Dreaming Habits shares some ideas for how to sleep well, even during summer. See how many of the advice you already follow.
1. Follow a natural sleep rhythm
- Follow the circadian rhythm of life. Make sure you walk outside and get sunlight in the morning.
- Do relaxing workouts such as meditation and yoga.
- Allow yourself a 20-minute nap if you need it. A trick is to drink a cup of coffee before the nap so that the caffeine kicks in just when the nap is over.
2. Keep your body balanced
- Limit the consumption of caffeine and alcohol (especially just before going to bed).
- Avoid artificial energy sources.
- Be sure to exercise the cardiovascular system.

3. Mind the bedroom and nightwear
- To sleep better during summer, keep the bedroom cool, dark, quiet and undisturbed.
- Wear clean, comfortable and chic nightwear.
- Keep the phone and watch away from your head and the bed.
- Try to make the bedroom as organic as possible, for example with the colour green and plants.
4. Night time rituals
- Turn down the light and light candles.
- Use the evening for intimacy, a hot bath, reading or yoga.
- Try to let go of the day when you go to bed.
5. Don’t stress if you wake up
- Do not stress if you wake up during the night.
- Only lie down when you are tired.
- If you cannot go to sleep, you can get up again until you become tired.
- The old trick with hot milk and honey usually helps.
6. Enjoy your morning
- Set one reachable and easy goal for your day.
- Wake up slowly and calmly. Do not check your phone or lap top for messages and email until you have had breakfast.
- Think about the dreams you have had and maybe write them down.
8. Summer tricks
- Take a cold shower just before going to bed.
- Drop the duvet and just sleep with the sheets.
- Cold feet can raise your body temperature, so keep them warm even if it is hot.
