“Floral design should reflect your spirit and the season,” says Laura Jean Pecci, founder of Laura Jean Floral in Cambridge, Massachusetts. For homemade bouquets, she advices us to use blooms with firm, green stems.
Here are more tips:
1. It is a good idea to cut stems at an angle above their leaf points/knuckles so that they have improved consumption of water.
2. You can mix fruits and vegetables on the vine (like grapes, strawberries, and tomatoes) into your bouquet for a farm-fresh look.
3. Don’t overpack the vase. Make movement with negative space and asymmetry.
4. As you build your bouquet, turn the vase to make sure the arrangement work at all angles.
